When you call
- Say where you are first — the city, the area and a landmark. A call that drops after the address can still bring help.
- Say what happened and how many people are hurt, and whether anyone is trapped, not breathing or bleeding heavily.
- Stay on the line until the operator ends the call, and keep your phone free afterwards.
- Gas leak: leave the building, do not touch switches or light anything, and call from outside. Our guide to LPG cylinder safety explains why.
How these numbers were checked
On 16 October 2026 each number was checked against an official government or service page, or two independent reputable sources, and that source is linked beside it. Numbers we could not confirm — including some still shared widely online — are left out rather than guessed. Services change their numbers; if one does not connect, use 15 or 1122 in Pakistan and 112 in India. Spotted a change? Tell us.
Be ready before you need them
Save the numbers in your phone and write them on paper — phones die. Our emergency kit checklist covers the rest, and free alerts tell you when a severe incident is recorded in your country.
