If measles is near you
- Two MMR doses protect about 97% of people; one dose about 93%. Adults unsure of their status can ask for a blood test or another dose.
- Symptoms start 7–21 days after exposure: high fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, then a rash spreading from the face down.
- Call ahead before going to a clinic or ER, so staff can keep you away from babies and others at risk.
- Your state or county health department lists exposure locations and free vaccine clinics.
What this page shows, and what it misses
Measles cases that states and territories reported to CDC's National Notifiable Diseases Surveillance System, from the most recent weekly table. The counts are provisional: late reports are added and some cases are reclassified, so they can trail CDC's measles page and state announcements by days or weeks. Cases are by the reporting jurisdiction, not where the infection happened. New York City reports separately from the rest of New York State.
