High river, or flooding?
A river above its normal range is higher than usual, not necessarily flooding. Flooding is warned about separately: flood warnings in force now. Never walk or drive through flood water — why: flood safety.
What this page shows, and what it misses
The latest reading from each Environment Agency river gauge, refreshed every 15 minutes, compared with that gauge's own typical range (the levels it stays within most of the time). Gauges below a weir, tidal gauges and those without a published range show no state. Readings more than a metre above a gauge's own record are treated as faults until checked. Welsh gauges (Natural Resources Wales) appear in the near-me and search views with their latest level; NRW publishes no typical range, so they never count as above normal.
