The key measures in plain words, from press reports of CAQM's revised schedule (48 actions in all: 25 in Stage I, 8 in II, 10 in III, 5 in IV). Each stage keeps everything before it. The official schedule and orders are at caqm.nic.in. GRAP does not close schools by itself: that takes a separate order from the Delhi or state government.

Who decides, and how
The CAQM's sub-committee on GRAP invokes or revokes a stage after looking at the Central Pollution Control Board's AQI and the forecasts of the IMD and IITM. It often acts on the forecast, before the AQI actually crosses a threshold, and orders usually take effect the same day.
Across the border, Lahore faces the same season: smog in Lahore today.
What this page shows, and what it misses
The stage above is entered by our editors from the CAQM order, linked beside it, with the time it was last confirmed. When nobody has confirmed it recently the page says so instead of presenting an old stage as today's. We do not republish AQI numbers; the CPCB is the source for those. Our guide to smog season covers what helps. Method: about.
